Flour storage and packing
Soufflenheim, Alsace. How can a new industrial installation be integrated into an existing building within space, budget and time constraints? IGENIUM supported Moulin Fritz from design through to commissioning.
An independent family business with roots dating back to the 19th century, Moulin Fritz has passed down its milling expertise through six generations, producing conventional and organic flours, including flours made from locally grown cereals.
The challenge: fitting a complete installation into a confined space
The aim was to modernise flour storage and packing in an extension that had already been built, while respecting the budget and the constraints of the existing premises. The project combined pneumatic conveying, storage bins, weighing and bagging.
The machine layout, pipe routing, supports and interfaces with the building, utilities, electrical systems and automation required precise coordination.
The solution: planning ahead with 3D scanning
IGENIUM carried out a 3D scan of the building and created a BIM model of the planned installation. This approach made it possible to check space requirements, optimise pipe routing and supports, and anticipate assembly challenges before work began on site.
The team handled the engineering and coordinated contractors and technical interfaces through to installation and commissioning.
An installation sized to meet the mill’s needs
In eight months, from initial contact to delivery, the project integrated four 10-tonne storage bins mounted on load cells, a pneumatic conveying system for white flour and a semi-automatic packing line capable of handling up to 120 bags of 25 kg per hour.
The total investment amounts to €400,000–€500,000, with financing support provided by ACSIO Conseil.
